The Houston Rundown is a free local newsletter for Houston, Texas, published by Reyes Castillo Jr. of San Benito, Texas. This page explains what we collect and what we do with it.

What we collect

When you subscribe: your email address, and your name if you give it. If we ask a short welcome question and you answer, we keep your answer.

When you read our emails: whether an email was delivered, opened, or clicked. Most newsletters collect this, and it tells us which stories you find useful.

When a business contacts us about advertising or a listing: the business name, contact name, email, phone, and message it sends us.

When you visit our website: standard technical information your browser sends, and our website may use cookies to keep things working.

Website analytics: our website uses Google Analytics. It uses cookies and similar technology to tell us how many people visit, which pages they read, how they found us, and whether a visit led to a newsletter signup. Google processes this information under its own privacy policy. If we add advertising measurement later, we will update this page first.

Information from our email provider: our email delivery provider may send us general profile information about people we have emailed, drawn from outside data sources, such as an age range or a general location. We do not use it to contact you in any other way, and we do not sell or share it.

What we do with it

Send you The Houston Rundown and occasional related emails, like event guides.

Learn which stories readers want more of.

Answer businesses that ask about advertising.

We do not sell your information, and we do not share your email with the businesses we feature.

Who helps us run the newsletter

We use a few service providers to publish and deliver the newsletter and to store contact records: Letterman (publishing), GlobalControl (contact management), SMTP.com (email delivery), Cloudflare (website and email routing), and Google (website analytics). They handle your information only to provide those services to us.
